International Economics and Security Division aims to promote Australia's interests by influencing key policies, strategies, and international governance arrangements through engagement with international financial institutions (IFIs), multilateral forums including G20 and key bilateral partners. This engagement aims to strengthen international economic and financial stability, promote global growth and sustainable development, bolster bilateral relationships, and progress the Government’s wider international agenda, including on security issues.
Foreign Investment Division is focused on providing advice on inbound foreign investment issues. An important part of the Division’s work is assessing foreign investment proposals and providing advice and recommendations on these proposals to the Foreign Investment Review Board and Treasury Ministers. This involves engagement across Government agencies and within Treasury. The Foreign Investment Division also oversees Australia’s participation in the investment aspects of international agreements, including implementation of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
