The Financial Compliance Branch sits within the Budgets and Financial Services Division and supports the Department of Defence by providing a framework of financial policies and advice to support staff in exercising their financial responsibilities. There are a broad range of specialised financial activities undertaken within the Financial Compliance Branch including: Financial Compliance Assurance – the team undertake data analysis and reporting of Defence’s financial compliance and non-compliance against the overarching financial policies and regulations; Financial Policy – development and interpretation of corporate level financial policies, legislative guidance and disseminating Commonwealth/legislative financial controls; Financial Learning – provides learning solutions that will improve financial literacy in Defence and empower financial managers and decision makers; Travel Policy - responsible for the development of travel policy and documentation for official travel undertaken by Defence members; and Tax Management - manages the tax compliance and consulting for Defence and Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) as tax payers.
