Infrastructure Australia (IA) is the Australian Government’s independent adviser on nationally significant infrastructure investment planning and project prioritisation. IA’s main functions are to:
•	conduct audits to determine the adequacy, capacity and condition of nationally significant infrastructure
•	conduct or endorse evaluations of infrastructure proposals
•	develop Infrastructure Priority Lists and Infrastructure Plans
•	provide advice on infrastructure matters
In accordance with amendments to the Infrastructure Australia Act 2008 that came into effect on 1 September 2014 and on 15 April 2024, IA is a statutory agency administered by 3 commissioners who are responsible for deciding the objectives, strategies and policies to be followed by IA, and for ensuring the proper, efficient and effective performance of IA’s functions.
