The Nuclear Safety Committee has the following functions: • to advise the CEO of ARPANSA and the Council on matters relating to nuclear safety and the safety of controlled facilities; • to review and assess the effectiveness of standards, codes, practices and procedures in relation to the safety of controlled facilities; • to develop detailed policies and to prepare draft publications for the promotion of uniform national standards in relation to the safety of controlled facilities; • to report to the CEO on matters relating to nuclear safety and the safety of controlled facilities. The Committee’s functions are to be performed only on the request of the CEO.
