Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) provides in-service support to Navy and delivers new maritime capability for Government.
MSD sustains in excess of $15 billion in maritime assets, with an annual budget of $1.6 billion. The workforce is made up of approximately 500 APS and ADF members, combined with a partnered contract workforce of 1600 based around Navy’s major ports.
In line with Plan Galileo, Division wide reform is currently underway in response to Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and the increasingly complex strategic environment. This reform will ensure vessels are effectively transitioned from their acquisition projects through to the sustainment organisation; and restructure the way sustainment services are delivered through the establishment of a network of Regional Maintenance Centres in four strategic locations across the country.
