The Registrar of Military Justice (RMJ) assists the Judge Advocate General (JAG) and Chief Judge Advocate (CJA) by providing administrative and management services in connection with charges and trials under the Defence Force Discipline Act 1982. The RMJ must be an enrolled legal practitioner of not less than five years standing, a member of the Australian Defence Force (including a member of the Reserves who is rendering continuous full-time service) and hold a rank not lower than the naval rank of captain or the rank of colonel or group captain.
