The Director of the Office of Australian War Graves is a statutory office holder. The Office of Australian War Graves acts as an agent of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) to: 1. maintain war cemeteries and memorials and individual war graves (in Australia and the region) for members of the Commonwealth forces, who died during the First and Second World Wars 2. commemorates eligible veterans who died post-war and whose deaths were caused by their war service and 3. build and maintain official Australian memorials overseas.
