On 5 August 2022, the Minister for Trade and Tourism retained the Industry Advisory Council, following its initial establishment in April 2021 under the former Government.
The STS is a whole-of-government microeconomic reform that will enhance Australia’s position as a globally competitive trading nation with strong border, biosecurity, and community protections. It will do this through taking an end-to-end view of the cross-border trade environment and delivering simpler trade rules, more integrated services, increased digitalisation and data sharing, and more streamlined processes.
The key role of the IAC is to provide strategic guidance on STS business engagement, and practical business insights to inform whole-of-government STS reforms. The IAC supports business co-design of Australia’s future cross-border trade environment.
