Northern Territory Fisheries Joint Authority

Administered under Northern Territory law, in respect of the Offshore Net and Line, Demersal, Timor Reef and Finfish Trawl Fisheries, the Authority keeps the condition of the fisheries constantly under consideration, formulates policies and plans for the management of the fisheries, exercises powers conferred on it by the Northern Territory fisheries legislation and cooperates and consults with other authorities, including other joint authorities within the meaning of the Commonwealth Fisheries Management Act 1991, on matters of common concern.
