Biosecurity Response and Reform supports the biosecurity system through providing strategic leadership and coordination to enable continuous improvement. The branch does this through the development, implementation and management of biosecurity policy, programs and initiatives relating to preparedness and responsiveness to national biosecurity incidents. The branch provides leadership to the department’s regulatory maturity efforts, including supporting regulatory systems with implementing the Regulatory Practice Statement and aligning with whole-of-department compliance and regulatory designs and plans. The branch is also responsible for implementing aspects of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity and conducts consultation and engagement activities to support the department's biosecurity objectives.
