Leads and manages the development and delivery of national and international programs that support community awareness and the preservation of Australia’s wartime and service heritage and veterans’ experiences, manages commemorative grants for community and other organisations, and monitors the use of the word 'Anzac'. The Office of Australian War Graves, within Commemorations and War Graves Branch, provides official commemorations for eligible Australian veterans and acts as an agent of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to maintain 75 war cemeteries and war plots and other collective commemorations in Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Norfolk Island for members of the Commonwealth forces, who died during the First and Second World Wars.
