Macroeconomic Conditions Division

The Macroeconomic Conditions Division monitors and assesses economic developments in Australia and key global economies. Key tasks include providing economic forecasts which inform budget estimates of revenue and expenditure, and providing briefings on current and prospective economic conditions. The Division also contributes to wider policy analysis in the Group and the Department, and contributes to a number of departmental publications such as the Budget Papers, Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook, and Working Papers. MECD officers` conduct regular business liaison visits to obtain up-to-date information on business conditions.
