The Department was established on 1 May 1901. It supports the House of Representatives and the Parliament by providing advice and services of the highest standard.
Provides information and advice on the work of the House and its committees and the parliamentary system; maintains House of Representatives Practice, the Standing and Sessional Orders, procedural databases, and statistical information on the work of the House and its committees; provides secretariat support for the Procedure Committee; and provides support for Members in their participation in the work of the House and the Main Committee.
