Structure, organisations and key people
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is responsible for conducting independent 'no-blame' investigations into accidents and other transport safety matters involving civil aviation, marine and rail operations that fall within Commonwealth jurisdiction. A primary concern is the safety of commercial transport, with particular regard to fare-paying passenger operations. Since 1 July 2009 the ATSB has been a separate statutory Agency with a Commission structure.
