Structure, organisations and key people
PHLN is a sub-committee of the Australian Health Protection Committee (AHPC), which is a principal committee of the Australia Health Ministers' Advisory Committee (AHMAC). PHLN is a collaborative group of medical microbiology laboratory representatives. The aim of the PHLN is to provide strategic advice and share expertise at the national level in order to enhance the national capacity for the laboratory based detection and surveillance of agents and vectors of communicable diseases in Australia.
Major Public Health Laboratories in each Australian jurisdiction (nominated by their jurisdictional health department) are represented on PHLN as well as experts, Australian Association of Pathology Practices (AAPP), and NZ.
